Get out and Scout!

Weather might not be suited for anchoring up to fish. But, wintertime can be the best time to go out on the boat and scout! Mother nature changes waterways each and every year, and throughout the year! I often use the slower fishing months to simply go out and look for changes. We are all familiar with our local waterways. However, small changes can make fish do different things. Certain good spots can go to be bad spots in no time! Its very important to see your waterways during the months of each year! Whether its sonar scanning, or visual scanning, it will give you the edge on your next trip!  rollo

James River Action!!!

Happy New Year!

Well with 2011 here, fishing trips are already being planned for this upcoming season. Next month I will be traveling to Virginia for another trip to the James River, fishing for blue cats! I have made a couple other trips there in the past, and its AWESOME! One of the best bodies of water to have the chance to catch big fish in the states in my opinion. First year, I wasnt prepared! I brought a good set of 50 pound spring scales, to have them blown apart by a big blue cat before even getting it off the bottom of the boat! Drew's fish was estimated between 65-70 pounds. Id like to know for sure what it weighed! It still holds the record on my boat. We caught many other fish that trip ranging 10 to 41 pounds. When you go to the James, you can expect multiple cats ranging from 10 to 40 pounds. With some ranging much bigger! Last years three day trip with a couple friends landed 56 blues! We guided with Capt. Hugh Self. A former state record holder in VA. for the blue catfish. Also, known for his expertise on how to catch them big kitties! Last years trip produced a 50 plus pound fish caught by my friend Kip, and many other big blues. Hopefully this year will be as good or better when we head there. One things for sure, it will be fun! I will post some pic.s from our recent trips to the James..  good fishing everyone....  rollo

Hello Everyone

Just joining, and look forward to sharing my life experiences with you all. I also look forward to reading about your adventures as well. I am an avid outdoorsman, with a true love when it comes to catfishing! I spend most of my free time on the water fishing, trying to catch large catfish! Its a sport to me, and keeps  me challenging myself to do better.
