Hard At It!
Fishing has been hit and miss so far this year, but that's fishing..... Had a decent night with no big fish, but a few as in numbers.. Started out with an early evening flathead with Adam..
Dropped him off at midnight and headed back out myself to fish till morning. Managed two more small 8 pound flatheads, a nice channel and a 16 pound flattie...
Nothing great but a productive night.

Kicking off 2013 Season !!!
Looking forward to this new season chasing trophy catfish! Started off on another early spring trip to the James River to chase Big Bluecats with Capt. Hugh Self again.. And die-hard catfishing partners Kip Armstrong and Randy Wade. Conditions were tough on our three day trip with freezing rain, sleet, and wind. We managed another productive trip though for them Blue Kitties. Highlight of the trip was a triple we landed on the last day, all citations!
Lots of good fish caught ! Here are some more pics.
With the Annual Blue Cat Trip out of the way.... I Think its safe to say around here.. ITS FLATHEAD SEASON!!!!!
Followed with a double from Kip and Randy!

First Flathead Double for 2012!
Adam and myself, hit the river today to try our luck again at some early season cats. River is still elevated, but running above normal water temperatures for this time of the year. We hit several spots. Fish seemed to be finicky still, with several bites...However, few that wanted to commit. We used cut shad, cut gills, small livegills... We ended up with three flatheads, and a channel.
Was really funny though when Adam got hooked up, I was trying to net his fish and my clicker took off,,, Wish I could have had this one on video! Got Adam's in the net.. Handed it off... Set on mine, to have a major mess! LOL.. We ended up boating both fish by whatever luck! Thats all that matters I guess. No Big Boys or Gals today, just a couple teenagers. But, alot of fun for sure.... Heres a few pictures...

Cold Water Channel Cats
Me and Kip hit the river today after some light tackle channel cats. Wind was steady at 15-20 mph. Making fishing crazy for how we wanted to fish. Water temp was low 40's.. Here's a short video of a deep water channel cat on light tackle caught on a small piece of cut shad....

James River Blue Cats!!!!
Just made it back from another awesome trip fishing for blues on the James River with some good friends. Kip, his dad, and myself headed back down to chase some giants with the legendary Capt. Hugh Self. And we didn't get disappointed! Last year Capt. Hugh put me on my personal best blue, a 72 pound beauty! He came through once again putting Kip on his personal best a 69 pound brute! I have to say I thought last years trip was a dandy, but this years takes "the cake". We boated 25 blue cats, 22 of them were over 20 pounds! Including Kips 69, his dads 50, a 45 I landed and multiple fish in the 40 and 30 pound range on down. This was my fourth trip down to the James, and I can't wait to get back. Would like to hit it again this summer and do some night drifting for them monsters! Thanks again Capt. Hugh for a great trip, and all the fun we had. Look forward to coming back soon. Here are a few pictures from the trip.

A Couple Catfish Freaks Ready For Some Big Blues With Capt. Hugh!!!
With the construction season finally ending up, I'm ready for a getaway for sure! Lots of hours working out of town, and family seems to reduce my time on the water each year. However,,, I'm still a diehard catfisherman, and will always be! Me and a good friend of mine Kip Armstrong, who is an avid catfisherman for many years and founder of Catfish Freaks website are heading back to the James River soon to chase them Big Blues! We will be meeting up again with legendary Capt. Hugh Self . Recently, they boated one over 100 pounds!! I have fished a couple past years with Capt. Hugh with great results! He put me on my personal best blue cat this past spring a 72lb. Hawg! He knows the river, and is a professor on catching big blue catfish. Catching big fish is no guarentee! But, I know one thing, WE will be fishing hard daylight to dark, or after for them!!!! Can't Catch 'Em From The Couch!!! rollo
Here are some past pictures fishing with some friends on the James River in Va. with Capt. Hugh.

Get 'Em Hooked!
Jacie asked to go fishing the other evening. We hit a farm pond in an attempt to catch some fish. She did really well catching many bluegills, and some bass. Here's a few pictures of her showing dad how to catch bait, and how she feels about dad keeping her fish for flathead bait! LOL
